Originating in Mexico as the name implies, Ionantha Mexican has short, thick green leaves that curve downwards at the tips. The plant grows upwards via additional layers of leaves. When in bloom, the top sections of its foliage turns a vibrant red color and tubular, purple flowers with yellow petals emerge. Ionantha Mexican is a fast grower that loves water (above average for a Tillandsia). This variety multiplies relatively fast, so you may enjoy a cluster before you know it!
